The Insider

Leighton Meester: the perfect role model for the “less fortunate” Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan. She never ceases to amaze me as she stomps against domestic violence at Marshall’s 15th Annual Shop Til It Stops Charity Fashion Show event in Union Square. Marshall’s stores across the United States “will donate a dollar of every shoe purchased between Oct. 2-16 to domestic violence charities,” says writer Castina of popcrunch.com. According to Emmet Sullivan of People Magazine, Meester believes, “no matter who is affected by domestic violence, I take it personally, so I think it’s partly my responsibility to talk about it.” Unlike others, she is using her fame and kind heart to end domestic violence and hopes to make everyone more aware. Not only was she seen supporting the cause, but she even donated a pair of her own Stuart Weitzman shoes.

With all of the negative press floating around about drugs and sexuality, it is outstanding to see the young celebrity taking action against a serious issue. Leighton Meester’s publicist has done a fantastic job portraying her client in a positive light.  I like the way the celebrity appeared at the event, contributed, and spoke about her feelings for the cause. It was simple and easy. She deserves respect for saying it is her “responsibility” because she knows as a celebrity, she has influence over the world.

Sullivan of People Magazine, also reveals that she “appreciates wearing jeans and a T-shirt in her daily life” compared to the dazzling outfits she struts on “Gossip Girl.” This extra tidbit makes the public proud to see a star enjoying the comfort of the real world. It illustrates that Meester is down-to-earth and just like one of us.

Congrats to her publicist! What could be better than making the public adore Leighton for her genuine and easy-going personality? I would definitely keep promoting her charity work and “innocence.” At this rate, with such a good image,  she could even start her own line of shoes or makeup that would help benefit domestic violence. This would keep her in the spotlight and increase her fans’ loyalty. Lindsay Lohan’s publicist wish she would of thought of this!
